The Oculus charm necklace draws inspiration from fine, stone-set jewellery interpreted and crafted in clay.
This necklace was about creating a paired-back pendant that included fine and interesting design details.
Named after circular “oculus” windows found in Neoclassical architecture that often include a design flourish around the border.
Materials:
- Porcelain
- Gold-filled chain (a higher quality and thicker gold-coating than gold-plating at an accessible price compared with solid gold)
- Gold-lustre (real gold plating on the porcelain)
Story:
Once you put this necklace on you might not take it off because it goes with everything! That was my experience anyway.
I wanted to design something that offered a different and unique take on delicate gold-charmed necklace. This is a subtle piece that plays with the idea "is that a gem-stone"?
I like to re-work familiar concepts into something elevated and unique.
